In America, there is the "State of the Union" annual address. This collection of poems is more of a "State of the World" address -- a report of all of the things going on in the world hurting both the planet and those who inhabit it, all taken from the headlines of news media. Homelessness, animal abuse, greed, domestic violence, discrimination, religious wars, bullying, lies, oppression and outrage; these are what make up the world that we live in today.
